The North Face Mens Redpoint Optimus Jacket is a true take-anywhere coat for all conditions. Seamless construction makes the Optimus ultra waterproof and super light.
The North Face Men's Redpoint Optimus Jacket is a true take-anywhere coat for all conditions. Throw it on for a quick trip to the grocery store, stuff it in your pack for a back-up insulating layer on a backcountry ski tour, or wear it every day at the resort. Seamless construction makes the Optimus ultra waterproof and super light. PrimaLoft insulation keeps you warm with low bulk, while the HyVent shell keeps you dry. HyVent waterproof kiss coating on the hood, shoulders and top of the arms prevents water penetration where flakes hit first. The rest of the body is superlight and breathable ripstop nylon. Speaking of warm and dry, when the blizzard of the century hits, throw up the hood and laugh at the elements. Plenty of pockets add to the Optimus' versatility.
Bottom Line: More than meets the eye.

Review: The 2003 ($99) model of the Redpoint Optimus Jacket is a very good jacket with it's included features. Removable sleeves, sleeve pocket, hood cinch, and perm-aloft insulation. The 2005 version of the same jacket is ($199) and has less features than the 2003 model. The 2005 version is without the above 2003 features listed above at twice the cost. The only features that are better on the 2005 model are that the perm-aloft feels like down, and the "kiss" of hyvent to protect the wearer from water absorption. If I has a choice I would choose the 2003 version of this jacket.
Bottom Line: I WOULD recommend this product to a friend.
